OTAKUUPDATES
Policy
Otaku Updates will not add your releases if any of the following applies to your release:
If you have any questions or comments, please send an email to [email protected]
1. There’s an active translator for the series.
- An active translator is a translator who meets all the following criteria:
- a. Has been translating the series for at least 30 days.
- b. Has translated over 30 releases(novels/manga) or 4 episodes(anime/drama) according to the raw site for the series.
- c. Must have released at least two releases within the past 30 days, unless the translation has caught up to the latest raw episode/chapter (the latest raw episode/chapter must be translated within 30 days of being posted on the raw site)
- If you are not the active translator, your releases will still be accepted if any of this applies to you:
- a. You start translating the series from the beginning without skipping any episodes/chapters. No, you cannot translate episode 1/chapter 1 and then do an episode/chapter jump to episode/chapter 50. Your episode/chapter 1 would be accepted while your episode/chapter 50 wouldn’t.
- b. You have permission from the current active translator
- c. There are no active translators
- d. You have translated at least 50 releases(novel/manga)/8 releases(anime/drama) (according to the raw site) for the series.
- e. If your releases were accepted due to meeting the requirements at any point
2. Your release is locked. (Not accepted: password protected, requiring user to log in, appwalled or paywalled releases. Accepted: adwall releases). For appwalled or paywalled releases, an exception to this rule would be if it is from the official licensed company. As for password protection releases, an exception to this rule would be if the password is on the same page as the chapter link and easy to find.
3. Your release is not translated from an Asian anime, novel, drama, or manga.
4. Your release is MTL with little to no editing.
5. No raw source is found for your episodes or chapters.
6. You’re both the author and translator of the novel you’re writing/translating.
7. You’re skipping episodes/chapters and hiding those skipped episodes/chapters behind some type of paywall/appwall/etc… Your skipped episodes/chapters plus all episodes/chapters after it will be rejected.
8. You’re translating random episodes/chapters from the series. We would only accept your episodes/chapters if you continue where the last translator left off or if you’re translating from the beginning.
